Sweet Learning Opportunity at Greenfield Maple Open Houses

March weekends in Greenfield will bring plenty of opportunity to tap into your sweet tooth and receive a sweet education about maple syrup production. Explore Maple Valley Farm and Twin Leaf Farms, two local maple syrup farms, who are each holding open house weekends this March. The open houses are a part of New York State’s Maple Weekend, an annual event sponsored by the New York State Maple Producer’s Association for the public to learn about the maple sugarmaking processes and traditions.

March 16 & 17, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Maple Valley Farm, 84 Harris Rd. Corinth, NY.

Join the thousands of people who attend each year at the sugarhouse in Corinth.  Take a tour and hayride to learn about the whole process of making syrup. Stay for a pancake breakfast($), enjoy live music, pony rides($) and shop from the many local vendors with booths. Learn about candle making, and create one onsite($). Sample maple syrup and purchase some syrup, sugar, candy, maple cream (butter) and maple cotton candy to bring home.

This farm has been in business since 1971, but the family has been producing syrup since 1800, making them the sixth generation. The 3,000 taps of sugarbush each year come from four areas right here in Greenfield and additional taps in Corinth. Last year, Maple Valley produced 1,000 total gallons of maple syrup.

Two weekends, March 16 & 17 AND March 23 & 24, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., at Twin Leaf Farms, 200 Hyspot Rd., Greenfield, NY.

Take a tractor sugarbush tour (weather permitting) and experience firsthand the entire syrup production process from the tree to the evaporator. Sample products and enjoy a pancake breakfast ($5/pp) at our new 4,900-square-foot barn. Purchase some of our syrup, sugar, candy drops, popcorn and cotton candy to bring home.

This farm is a eighth generation operating farm, that began producing maple syrup in 2020. The farm produces 600 gallons a year and has 1,700 taps of sugarbush on a section of its 400 acres of total farm land.

Attend these open houses to load up on some sappy sweetness that came directly from the TOG.
